Vic; Electricity price cut for new year
Victorians are to pay less for their electricity after new year's day.
Acting Energy Minister LYNNE KOSKY says the new power prices will deliver cuts of about
five per cent to both domestic and business users.
She says the reductions, to take effect from next Monday, were ordered by the Office
of the Regulator General because distribution costs have fallen.
Under the legislation privatising the state's wholesale and retail electricity markets
the Regulator General has the authority to set the prices charged by all sectors of the
system for the benefit of consumers.
