TROY PRINCIPAL GIVEN 50% CHANCE TO WALK.(CAPITAL REGION)

Troy James Kapp, the principal who fell from a fire escape at School 12 after it had allegedly been booby-trapped by a pair of teens, has a 50 percent chance of walking again, according to the orthopedic surgeon who operated on him Tuesday at Albany Medical Center.

Kapp, 45, was in fair condition after a 3-hour operation Tuesday morning to remove bone fragments from his spinal cord, said Dr. Allen Carl, an orthopedic surgeon and professor of surgery who spoke at an afternoon press conference.

Doctors also placed an internal scaffold in his vertebrae that will prevent the spine from slipping out of alignment and …
